书目名称 | Malory‘s Morte D‘Arthur | 副标题 | Remaking Arthurian T | 编辑 | Catherine Batt | 视频video | | 丛书名称 | The New Middle Ages | 图书封面 | | 描述 | This study innovatively explores how Malory‘s Morte D‘Arthur responds to available literary vernacular Arthurian traditions which the French defined as theoretical in impulse, the English as performative and experimental. Negotiating these influences, Malory transforms constructions of masculine heroism, especially in the presentation of Launcelot, and exposes the tensions and disillusions of the Arthurian project. The Morte poignantly conveys a desire for integrity in narrative and subject-matter, but at the same time tests literary conceptualizations of history, nationalism, gender and selfhood, and considers the failures of social and legal institutionalizations of violence, in a critique of literary form and of social order. | 出版日期 | Book 2002 | 关键词 | community; gender; Institution; Nation; nationalism; violence | 版次 | 1 | doi | https://doi.org/10.1007/978-1-137-11183-8 | isbn_softcover | 978-1-349-62788-2 | isbn_ebook | 978-1-137-11183-8Series ISSN 2945-5936 Series E-ISSN 2945-5944 | issn_series | 2945-5936 | copyright | Palgrave Macmillan, a division of Nature America Inc. 2002 |
