Large to Medium-Scale Sediment Budget Models - the Alpenrhein as a Case Studyally calculation of a simplified total budget for the entire system (e.g. Holocene) using approaches (1) to (3). Despite many uncertainties in establishing sediment budgets for open systems, sediment budgets provide the only “hard” data to validate computer simulations of sediment fluxes in the past.

Future changes, when superimposed on changes triggered in the past, will produce complex responses, which may be difficult to anticipate.

Modelling the Geomorphic Response to Land Use Changes based on historical map sequences. Finally, the predicted land use scenarios were used as an input for SEDEM. The results point out that a relative reduction in arable land causes a far more important relative reduction in soil erosion and sediment delivery to the rivers.
