The Megajoule Laser – A High-Energy-Density Physics Facilityin less than 9 ns from a single laser beam in May 2003. This chapter will present results from the commissioning phase of the LIL program in 2003 and 2004. The construction of the LMJ facility itself started in March 2003. The LMJ will be commissioned early 2011, and the first fusion experiments begin late 2012.
