Intelligent onboard telemetry system-a design approach,ch can fit with various missions is described. A low cost ground simulation test bed can be configured using high performance multiple personal computers. It is concluded that the successful realisation of an onboard intelligent telemetry system may lead to the application of expert system techniques to many other critical systems.

An expert system framework for the preliminary design of process flowsheets,tionality for carrying out the information processing in process design. The framework has been illustrated in the paper using an industrial standard design problem for producing ethanol using molasses and bio-reactions. Using the framework as a basis, an architecture for a design expert system is developed.
