A Thermodynamic Development of Elastic-Plastic Continua,A general thermodynamical development of elastic-plastic continua for non-polar media is presented in which the plastic strain is not necessarily a symmetric tensor. Alternative, but entirely equivalent, developments of the theory are outlined and some special cases are discussed.

Application of Variational Methods in the Non-Linear Theory of Dispersive Wave Propagation,A brief account is given of recent work, making use of variational methods to obtain simplifying approximations in the non-linear theory of wave propagation in dispersive systems. Some experiments, verifying the conclusions of the approximate theory in particular cases, are briefly described.

On Thermodynamics of the Differential Type Material,The basic object of the present paper is the analysis of the thermodynamic restrictions for the constitutive equations describing simple materials of the differential type. Our approach is based on principles of determinism, local action, material objectivity, equipresence and the second law of thermodynamics.

Generalized Continuum Mechanics,cal considerations. The theory is motivated by a particle model in which each particle consists of a number of mass-points. It is seen that starting with a given model there is a considerable ambiguity in the choice of the generalized coordinates describing the deformation and hence in the form of the resulting theory.
