The Fourier Transform and Mathematical Preliminaries,ssion on diffraction and field propagation. As with the preceding chapter, we put importance on the discrete form of the Fourier transform, DFT/FFT. The technique to make use of existing FFT libraries is presented for actual computation in wave optics and computer holography.

The Silhouette Method,bjects is discussed in the beginning. The Babinet’s principle is then introduced to extend the silhouette method to processing of occlusion between polygons. This type of silhouette method, called the switch-back technique, is the basis of rendering complicated 3D models.

Simulated Reconstruction Based on Virtual Imaging,tructed exactly like real holograms. Thus, we can confirm reconstruction of a CGH before its fabrication. We start from a simple technique based on back propagation, and then proceed to imaging by use of a virtual lens. Full-color simulated reconstruction as well as monochromatic reconstruction is discussed in this chapter.

Fabrication of High-Definition CGH,efront printers. In particular, we devote pages to the technique of laser lithography because it is one of the best technique to fabricate HD-CGHs. The last three sections in this chapter are devoted to fabrication of full-color HD-CGHs. Three techniques are discussed in this chapter.

The Polygon-Based Method,as well as the basic principle to implement the technique in software. Not only generation of simple diffused surfaces but also specular flat and smooth surfaces is presented on the base of the Phong reflection model.
