The Special Theory of Relativityein (1879–1955). This theory is an outgrowth of nineteenth century physics— particularly of the synthesis of electromagnetic phenomena into a unified electromagnetic theory in 1864 by James Clerk Maxwell (1831–1879). One of its consequences was the prediction of the existence of electromagnetic waves which travel with the speed of light.

The Nuclear Atomthe negative, showing that radiations came from the uranium salt. He then varied this experiment by placing a coin, or a metallic screen pierced with an openwork design, between the uranium salt and the photographic plate and, on developing the plate, found the image of each of these objects on the negative.

Waves and Particles wave motion. In spite of the fact that radiation possesses this dual character, it never exhibits both characteristics in any one experiment. In a given experiment it behaves either as a wave or a corpuscle.
