描述.This important book describes the basic principles of astrochemistry—an interdisciplinary field combining astronomy, physics, and chemistry—with particular emphasis on its physical and chemical background. Chemical processes in diffuse clouds, dense quiescent molecular clouds, star-forming regions, and protoplanetary disks are discussed. A brief introduction to molecular spectroscopy and observational techniques is also presented. These contents provide astronomers with a comprehensive understanding of how interstellar matter is evolved and brought into stars and planets, which is ultimately related to the origin of the solar system. The subject matter will also be understandable and useful for physical chemists who are interested in exotic chemical processes occurring in extreme physical conditions. The book is a valuable resource for all researchers beginning at the graduate level..

Basic Concepts for Gas-Phase Chemical Reactions, actions, dissociative electron recombination reactions, photodissociation, and photoionization are described. Timescales for chemical reactions and that for chemical equilibrium are defined in relation to rate coefficients, which are often used in the later chapters.

,Chemistry of Molecular Clouds II: Gas–Grain Processes, on the basis of physical processes. Depletion of molecules onto dust grains also affects chemical compositions in the gas phase. For instance, deuterium fractionation is enhanced by heavy depletion of CO. The mechanism of deuterium fractionation reactions is outlined.

Chemistry of Star-Forming Regions,le plays a crucial role in chemistry of star-forming regions. Shocks associated with outflows and accretion motions also contribute to chemical differentiation. Furthermore, photodissociation regions illuminated by young stars and nearby stars reveal unique chemistry. Key physical and chemical processes in the star-forming regions are described.

Chemistry of Protoplanetary Disks, lined after an overview of their physical conditions. Chemical compositions are discussed for four representative parts of a disk, disk midplane, disk surface, molecular zone, and inner disk. Molecules found in comets are briefly introduced in relation to disk chemistry.
