Agars from Chilean Gelidiaceae,shown that it is mainly composed of agarose. Methylation analysis, oxidative hydrolysis and partial hydrolysis, followed by .H NMR spectroscopy, have shown that the neutral fraction of the agar from tetrasporic . is agarose.
