Appreciative Advising with International Students in American Community Collegesortant student population has benefited US higher education in many different ways, such as bringing a global perspective to domestic students who cannot afford to study abroad (Campbell 2012), and providing additional revenue to higher education institutions as public funds continue to diminish (NAFSA 2015).

International Students Immigrating to the Title IX Environment: A Qualitative Cultural Analysis of C-partner and 24 % reported forced sex with a partner. In Papua New Guinea, 59 % of men reported raping sexual partners (Fossett 2013). While these statistics may startle the American reader, these incidents are an unfortunate social norm for many global citizens.

International Students’ Struggles: Community College to the Rescuencounter financial problems stemming in part from the higher cost of living in the USA as compared to their home countries. This chapter explores how international university students who initially started at four-year universities found assistance to these and other problems through the judicious use of community colleges.
