Conference proceedings 1987 many investigations have been carried out upon problems of hydration and a large amount of experimental and theoretical data has been obtained by the application of different methods. One effi cient possibility to stimulate progress in scientific problems is to come together and discuss existing r

Infrared Spectroscopic Study of the Strengthening of H-Bonds in Aqueous Salt Solutionsns. Because of the polarisation of 0H-groups by cations the OH- - - OH H-bonds between the first and the second hydration shell are strengthened. The results show that the cooperative influence of cations on the H-bonds of H.O is present in binary aqueous salt solutions in a similar manner as in ternary solutions salt/H.O/solvent.

Interactions of Cations of the Mn(II) — Zn(II) Series with Water in Solutions: Isopiestic and Spectrlutions, with surrounding water are practically the same. On the other hand they are distinctly different from those of other divalent non- transition metal cations, namely Ca(II), Sr(II), Ba(II) and Mg(II) (see Fig. 1).

The Determination of Vibrational Frequencies in H-Bonded Liquids from Molecular Dynamics Simulationsms and molecules of a chemical system are represented by point masses and rigid bodies moving under the influence of their mutual interactions according to the laws of classical mechanics. The primary input to a simulation is of course the set of potentials (usually called the model) describing the
