Noise transmissions due to structure-borne and airborne noise within the vessel have been considered.

In the case where no isolation measures have been incorporated, structure-borne transmission dominates levels of waterborne noise.

Acoustics in Marine Structuresh generates high noise levels. Two features which are perhaps more particular to ships are that the machinery is installed in a lightly damped steel structure and, in many cases, the people must remain in the noisy environment for periods of up to several weeks.
