Connection Between the Temporomandibular Joint and Temporal Bone,or mastoiditis may involve the TMJ and can even result in ankylosis. Moreover, fractures of the base of the skull frequently extend through the pneumatized spaces of the temporal bone and may release air into the glenoid fossa. In this chapter, we aim to show the possible connections between the TMJ and temporal bone.
