Evolutionary Computation in Crack Problems,ures, the identification of the cracks, the identification of the boundary conditions in cracked structures, the prediction of the crack growth path is presented. Boundary element method is used for solving the boundary-value problem. Numerical tests are included.

IS-PAES: Multiobjective Optimization with Efficient Constraint Handling,e grid as the original PAES (Pareto Archived Evolution Strategy). However, IS-PAES does not have the serious scalability problems of the PAES. The viability of the proposed approach is validated with several examples taken from the standard evolutionary and engineering optimization literature.

Optimization of Aligned Fiber Laminate Composites,ccurs over a landscape littered with local maxima, which is reliably traversed by a heuristic approach such as a genetic algorithm. A simple example is presented which highlights the benefits and drawbacks of considering flaw tolerance in laminate design.

An Error Function for Optimum Dimensional Synthesis of Mechanisms Using Genetic Algorithms,ng to a high computational cost function. In order to reduce the computational cost, variable complexity functions techniques can be applied. Solutions obtained with this genetic algorithm are a good starting point for further numerical optimization methods.

Evolutionary Computation in Thermoelastic Problems,as also considered. This problem was solved as well as for both ideal deterministic and randomly disturbed values of measured displacements and temperatures. Several tests and practical examples of optimization and identification were presented.
