Australia and the South Pacific Islands in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief, with HADR as one element. Preparing for climate change is a major aspect of Australia’s engagement with HADR in the region. When a natural disaster strikes, as with recent cyclones, Australia assists the emergency response in the affected country or countries as well as providing aid for reconstruction.
