Social Determinants of Crowdingd anxiety, lethargy, depression, insecurity and arousal nor was there an increase in aggressiveness due to a density x interference interaction. In the group formation condition more positive social effects could be observed in high than in low density. Consequences for urban Jesign are discussed.

Individual Variation in Perception, Adaptation, and Consequent Crowdinge density of an environment deviates from appropriate levels. Stress is influenced by situational control and cognitive style. Human and Non-Human Components of Crowdingidual factors in crowding research. Background characteristics of subjects —including number of persons they presently live with, largest number lived with, and preference for privacy— were found to interact with environmental variables. Results are discussed in terms of adaptation level theory; the concept of “dissonant space” is introduced.

Reactions to Personal Space Invasion: Experimental Tests of an Attributional Analysis be attributed to dispositions of the invader or to a situational constraint. In two of the three studies, subjects indicated greater discomfort, either by leaving the situation or by self-report ratings of their own feelings, in the conditions where the invasion could be attributed to dispositions of the invader.
