Fundamentals,A hot work tool steel is an alloyed tool steel that, as the name suggests, is suitable for “hot working” of materials. Hot work tool steels are used for tools for the non-cutting shaping of metals at surface temperatures of the tool above 200 °C (DIN EN ISO 4957). The workpiece temperatures can vary between 400 and 1200 °C.
