Site E-96-1: The Complex Structures or Shrines,third, and drilled two others. None of the excavated or tested rock clusters in this area were bedrock; however, several other very similar features along the eastern margin of the playa basin were tested and turned out to be bedrock.

Site E-92-9: A Possible Late Neolithic Solar Calendar,ghboring playa. The varying sized Nubia Sandstone slabs, which mark the critical feature of this site, form a circular pattern enclosing an area of approximately 49 m.. Several upright slabs, embedded into the dune, appear to be pairs of “gates” that we believe form a calendar markings the position of the sun at the summer solstice.

Site E-75-9: The Excavation of an El Adam (?) Early Neolithic Settlement at Nabta Playa,e are not as many sites and the occupational debris is not so dense, the soft dune has been eroded by the wind, leaving deflational hollows. It is a classic topographic inversion, with the more cemented and thus higher playa sediments adjoining a slightly lower dune hollow.

Site E-75-8: A Slice Through Time,. To the west of the area excavated during the 1998 and 1999 seasons, the Late Neolithic, and further to the west, the Middle Neolithic components have completely eroded away, exposing Al Jerar deposits at the far western edge of the site.

Site E-94-2: A Late Neolithic Occupation at Nabta,-92-7. A series of eight radiocarbon dates on charcoal from hearths suggests that E-94-2 was occupied a number of times at least around 5900 bp, with possibly earlier and later Late Neolithic occupations at ca. 6200 and 5300 bp, respectively.
