Abstract
Upon hearing of Zhu Chen-hao’s revolts, Wang Yang-ming, as an official passing through Jiangxi Province, raised an army of militia villagers within his limited power and in quite a short time suppressed the rebellion, making it a feat of “defeating a strong enemy of 100,000 soldiers with a mob of 10,000 militias” and saved the political destiny of the Ming dynasty. But such a clear fact turned out to be ambiguous due to the Emperor’s absurdity and false accusations of some villains.
