Novel Two-Dimensional Perovskiteshe physical character of which varies between that of a semiconductor and a ferroelectric insulator. In contrast to the usual procedure of extrinsic doping, which creates disorder, these variations are achieved without changing the chemical character of the compounds.

Noncuprate Layered Perovskite Superconductors ago we finally discovered [2] the first noncuprate superconductor in the layered-perovskite structure, Sr.RuO.with .. ≈1 K. This ruthenate still appears to be the only example of such a superconductor to date.

High Pressure Crystal Growth and Properties of HgBa2Can−1CunO2n+2+8, Sr1−xCuO2, CaCuO2 and Y2Ba4Cu6+have been grown from a melt. At a high oxygen pressure a new phase Sr.CuO. has been synthesized. Itcontains one-dimensional edge-sharing CuO. infinite chains instead of corner-sharing infinite layers, typical for cuprate superconductors.
