Biological Background,ber of proteins (histones) are also found in the nucleus. Each cell contains about 2,000 different kinds of macromolecules and about 750 different kinds of smaller molecules. Genes and proteins are the two most important macromolecules and are formed by concatenating smaller molecules into long strings known as sequences.
