描述The Springer Handbook oj Auditory Research presents a series of com prehensive and synthetic reviews of the fundamental topics in modern auditory research. It is aimed at all individuals with interests in hearing research including advanced graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and clinical investigators. The volumes will introduce new investigators to important aspects of hearing science and will help established investigators to better understand the fundamental theories and data in fields of hearing that they may not normally follow closely. Each volume is intended to present a particular topic comprehensively, and each chapter will serve as a synthetic overview and guide to the literature. As such, the chapters present neither exhaustive data reviews nor original research that has not yet appeared in peer-reviewed journals. The series focuses on topics that have developed a solid data and conceptual foundation rather than on those for which a literature is only beginning to develop. New research areas will be covered on a timely basis in the series as they begin to mature. Each volume in the series consists of five to eight substantial chapters on a particular topic. In

M. Brock Fentonets. In the Andean Common Market the importance attached to the expectation of the gains from industrialization was expressed in the formulation of Sectorial Programs of Industrial Development. Other integration schemes among less developed countries have not addressed the issue of import substituting industrialization in such detailed manner.

Behavioral Studies of Auditory Information Processing, (Griffin 1958). Computations performed on these echoes by the auditory system allow the bat to extract fine spatial information about its world through acoustic channels. This chapter attempts a comprehensive review and synthesis of data on auditory information processing and perception by sonar in echolocating bats.

Natural History and Biosonar Signals, odents (Smithers 1983). Whether one considers bats by diet or roosting habits, they present an impressive array of approaches to living. This diversity is clearly reflected in their echolocation behaviors.

Auditory Dimensions of Acoustic Images in Echolocation, role of hearing in the lives of bats — for finding prey and perceiving obstacles to flight (Neuweiler 1990). It also highlights the mechanisms behind these functions to make echolocation a useful model for studying how the auditory system processes information and creates auditory perceptions in the most extreme circumstances.
