A New Model of the Headquarters- subsidiary Relationshipore simply descriptive, providing labels for the outcomes of a given context. The hierarchical form and its various local and global subsidiary tasks remained unexplained and the new dimensions introduced by the arrival of the transnational/heterachy have not yet been convincingly assimilated into the previous work.

Subsidiary Tasks, the authors did not give any of them a specific theoretical grounding. They were based upon either an analysis of a particular business context or derived from the use of one of several conceptual frameworks such as the Integration-Responsiveness (I-R) grid.
