描述On the 100th anniversary of Marconi‘s successful experiment onradio broadcasting, 250 astronomers from all over the world met inBologna (Italy) for five days, to update their knowledge of thephysics and statistical properties of powerful extragalactic radiosources. .Since their discovery in the fifties enormous progress has been made.The existence of superluminal motions in the cores of radio sources,the presence there of a black hole surrounded by an absorbing dusttorus, as inferred mostly from studies at other wavelengths, are nowaccepted ideas. .Nevertheless, in spite of these efforts, there are many questionsstill unanswered. For instance we do not know which mechanism producesthe huge amount of energy supplied to radio sources, how the jetsconnecting the `engine‘ to the lobes are formed and collimated, whichof the differences observed among the various classes of radio sourcesare apparent and which are real. .These and other related topics are discussed in this book.

https://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-8349-8522-4 observations of Cygnus A at 22 & 43 GHz, which reveal evidence for subluminal motion in jet and counter-jet, and 86 GHz VLBI observations of two extreme γ—blazars, suggesting a tight correlation between their γ—ray activity and the generation of jets.

Das digitalisierte Kontrollorgan?1 in comparison to the status of 0528+134 in the EGRET energy range. The uncertainties in the flux densities quoted there are less than 5% at 10.55 GHz and lower frequencies, while slightly exceeding this value at 32 GHz and 86 GHz.

One year later, within one week of the peak of flare at 3 mm λ, observations with Haystack, Kitt Peak and Hat Creek observatories revealed a component comparable in size and flux density with . = 7 × 10. K. Table 1 details the source models for the two experiments.
