Book 1975eeting of the Entomological Society of America in Minneapolis, Minnesota, 2-5 December, 1974. The intent was to bring together biologists who have worked on arthropods that are either plant or animal parasites in order to foster consideration of general aspects of the parasitic way of life. There se

Introduction: The Parasitic Way of Life and its ConsequencesIchneumonidae, Matthews 1974, on Braconidae), so percentage representation in the Kingdom should be more than doubled. Insects and mites which are parasitic on plants are even more numerous. Therefore probably at least half of the animals on Earth are parasitic arthropods.

Darwinian models must be species specific in order to deal with the interactions between the individuals of a population and be able to predict how the interactions may affect the contribution females make to the next generation.

Biochemical Coevolution between Parasitoids and their HostsThe continued development of a host in accord with the evolutionary development of the host species is of benefit to the parasite. It is probably advantageous for the parasite to evolve towards a condition where the parasite has a minimal affect on the host species. This would insure the continued existence of a viable host population.
