描述.Suitable for both individual and group learning, .Engineering Acoustics. focuses on basic concepts and methods to make our environments quieter, both in buildings and in the open air. The author’s tutorial style derives from the conviction that understanding is enhanced when the necessity behind the particular teaching approach is made clear. He also combines mathematical derivations and formulas with extensive explanations and examples to deepen comprehension. Fundamental chapters on the physics and perception of sound precede those on noise reduction (elastic isolation) methods. The last chapter deals with microphones and loudspeakers. Assuming basic mathematical skills including integral calculus, the book offers a short introduction on the use of complex amplitudes in acoustics. Moeser includes major discoveries by Lothar Cremer, including the optimum impedance for mufflers and the coincidence effect behind structural acoustic transmission...".A readable and excellent text… unique in several ways… provides an excellent coverage of acoustic fundamentals… The book is excellent in dealing with noise control in interior spaces… excecllent book in the areas covered and it should be

Tales of Physicists and Mathematicians (or from) the above mentioned solid structures is caused by motion of the structure surface. In many cases it is the structure-borne sound that is responsible for the resulting sound in air (or sound in liquids). Even the transmission loss of walls, ceilings and windows, etc. is essentially a structural problem.

Phone-In-Shows und Therapie-Talksing a sufficiently high absorption at the walls. On the other hand enhancing the sound for the audience in auditoria like listening rooms and concert halls has to be achieved by indirect reflections, while simultaneously preventing too much reverberation caused by multiple reflections which would, for example, make intelligibility more difficult.

Fundamentals of Room Acoustics, different angles. Each reflection at a (rigid) plane surface can be regarded as coming from a sound source which is mirrored at the wall. To represent multiple reflections, higher order mirror sources have to be assigned to the mirror sources as well.
