Abstract
Over the last several decades, women have made an impressive incursion into S&E, especially in education. In many respects, this feat—begun with broad-based social and cultural changes during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s and 1970s—has succeeded in raising new issues in S&E to a national and international level of visibility, including new roles for women.
