Helical Structures,ight wire is another example of structure of lower symmetry. Because the dipole antenna is already so well known, we feel that the helix will be a more interesting example that illustrates the essential physics of this class of structures. There are two key points that we want to bring out in this chapter.

Electromagnetic Waves in Wire Composites I: Plasmonics, and has to be treated numerically. In this book, we describe one way to handle this class of problems with the multiple scattering method. At frequencies close to resonances of the basic units, expansion of the fields in . regions in terms of plane waves is not very efficient. The multiple scattering approach is better.
