European Integration (1974–2004): towards a Neo-liberal Zone liberalization. This turn was induced by the outbreak of the economic crisis of the 1970s. Soon the release of market forces became the only principle of this union and regional integration was presented as a means to adjust to a more global and marketed world. This chapter shows how this turn came about.
