Fourier and Laplace Transforms, modeling. We give examples of computation for a circuit and a mass-spring system. We also show how to solve the heat equation on a line using the Fourier transform. Finally, we pay homage to Laplace transform which is closely related to Fourier transform and is very popular in engineering.

,Estimation of Parameters,ralized to multiple dimensions. When the data has outliers, the 2-norm in NLS may be replaced with the more robust 1-norm. However, the use of 1-norm makes the objective function non-differentiable which rules out Newton’s method and calls for general optimization algorithms, such as the simplex method.
