Further, measurements have shown that the clouds themselves are composed in part of HNO., and that sedimentation of cloud particles apparently can remove reactive nitrogen from the gas phase altogether. These processes reduce the abundance of stratospheric NO., a primary requirement for elevated ClO densities and attendant ozone loss.

Liangbo Xie,Die Jiang,Xiaohui Fu,Qing Jiangred. This change of planetary wave structure in the South Pacific seems to be related to sea surface temperature anomaly in low latitude South Pacific. A possible role of the sea surface temperature variation in the recent development of ozone hole is also discussed.

Large Stratospheric Sudden Warming in Antarctic Late Winter and Shallow Ozone Hole in 1988: Observan hemispheric part of Antarctica. The sudden warming as well as other warmings which followed it made the 1988 ozone hole shallow in depth and small in area. Long-term observation at Syowa Station (69°S, 40°E) well depict characteristics of the 1988 event.
