描述.Dynamic Structure of NREM Sleep .is a concise guide to Cyclic Alternating Pattern (CAP) phenomenology and slow wave homeostasis. It presents an original approach to a specialized aspect of sleep neuroscience in a concise and easy-to-read format. .The authors are specialists in the field of sleep neuroscience and lend a new perspective to the benefits of slow wave activity during sleep. The main feature of this discussion is that slow wave activity increases as a function of previous wakefulness and it gradually decreases in the course of sleep. Alongside developing this idea, this book covers the entire range of sleep issues from basic structure to function in comprehensive detail. .Dynamic Structure of NREM Sleep .is valuable reading for neurologists, sleep neuroscientists and those with an interest in the field. .

Heinz Herwig,Andreas Moschallskiated to the recreation of cognitive functions in the cortex, mainly in the frontal lobes. Slow-wave homeostasis and use-dependent plasticity are probably two sides of the same coin representing the biological function of slow-wave sleep.

Heinz Herwig,Andreas Moschallskie economy as a response to any perturbation threatening the realization of the necessary slow wave amount especially during the first cycles, when homeostatic sleep pressure is high. There we have the link between the arousal-related microstructural sleep regulation and the sleep slow wave homeostasis, believed hitherto to be different issues.

Overview,of sleep or arousal promoting effect of sensory input during NREM sleep, and the interdigitation of micro- and macro-level of sleep dynamism. This may explain how the sleeper is kept in contact with the surrounding world, preserving the continuity of sleep.
