Summary/Outlook,In the preceding chapters, the author has attempted to discuss the various problems arising from the need to dispose of respective classes of radioactive waste and residues and consequently the associated geotechnical environmental structures—repository structures—without able to fulfil a necessary licensing practice.

The reader will notice that there are relatively large differences between individual countries in the long-term safe and long-term safekeeping of this class of radioactive waste. Comparing Germany to the USA, the differences are not only due to the different classification systems but also as a result of site-specific conditions.
