Mechanics of Elastic Stress Transfer, transfer process is used to refer to the mechanisms of stress transfer that regulate the mechanical response of the DFRC  from initial loading until just before the yield point. Thus, elastic stress transfer is an important process because it occurs in the useful operational range of the DFRC.
