Syndromes with Congenital Hearing Loss,drome. There may be associated congenital heart disease and also abnormalities of the genito-urinary system. Potentially serious renal anomalies may go undetected in early life and it has been suggested that all children with malformed ears should have an intravenous pyelogram (Rapin and Ruben 1976).

Traumatic Lesions of the Temporal Bone,, however, that traumatic hearing loss is often due to disruption of the ossicular chain, and although radiological demonstration may be difficult such an examination can greatly assist reconstruction. Ossicular discontinuity should always be considered where conductive deafness persists following head injury.
