Summary and Future Prospects, numerical simulations. We also analyzed shapes of actual asteroids and compare them with shapes of impact outcomes produced through our simulations. Finally we applied our simulations to the formation of the extremely elongated shape of 1I/‘Oumuamua. In this chapter, we summarize our study. We also

The code accurately solves the elastic dynamic equations and describes the effects of fracture and frictio

Results: Shapes of Impact Outcomes, impact simulations. As a result, we find that similar-mass and low-velocity impacts produce various shapes including extremely flat and elongated shapes. In contrast, high-velocity and destructive impacts mainly produce spherical and bilobed shapes, but they are difficult to produce flat shapes.

Both the results of our simulations and the information of actual asteroids suggest that flat shapes of large asteroids are likely to be formed in the primordial environment and they keep their flat shapes until today.
