Regeneration of axons in the optic nerve of the adult Browman-Wyse (BW) mutant rat, used on possible environmental factors within the CNS which might inhibit growth after injury. There are currently two areas of research which explore the role of either oligodendrocytes or astrocytes in inhibition.

On retrograde signalling and molecular events associated with nerve damage and regeneration, nable us to explore neurons in finer detail has increased. Consequently, the last 10 years have seen an explosion in information regarding molecular changes in damaged and regenerating nerves, and we are now in a better position to begin to directly test some of the ideas put forth by Cragg in his paper.

Growth Mechanisms and Sustainability these connections are organized and develop has been the subject of intense study in recent years. It has been established that many of the corticocortical and callosal pathways are highly exuberant early in development, and that some of the ‘inappropriate’ projections disappear as the visual cortex matures.

Growth Mechanisms and Sustainability learning and memory are operational definitions, and in the strict sense do not exist unless an appropriate behavioural change occurs, evolutionary convergence of function remains a pitfall for attempts to generalize molecular mechanisms of learning.
