描述.This book presents the cold side of the Universe illustrated by the rest-frame, far-infrared emission with Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA). The author constructed the largest-ever ALMA sample and dataset, which enables them to identify very faint, rest-frame, far-infrared dust continuums as well as the carbon fine-structure line emission from distant galaxies that have been missed in previous surveys. The observational findings described in this book reveal for the first time where and how much of the star formation, traced by the rest-frame far-infrared emission, is ongoing, from inter-stellar and circum-galactic media to cosmic structures. Moreover, since some of the findings are unexpected and as such challenge the current galaxy formation models, the book provides exciting questions that should be addressed in the next decades..

Circumgalactic Medium Scale: Metal-Enriched Gas Halo,s faint satellite galaxies. Interestingly, the radial profile of the . halo is well consistent with that of the Lyman-alpha (Ly.) halo that is universally identified around . normal star-forming galaxies in the recent deep MUSE observations, indicative of the association between the . and Ly. halos.

DICOM Media: Files, Folders, and DICOMDIRsr study, we have constructed 1220 ALMA submm/mm source sample from 1643 ALMA maps, that are the largest ALMA sample and dataset so far obtained, by making full use of the archive as well as our original data. In this chapter, we describe the ALMA sample and dataset used for the analysis at each scale.

Owing to the stacked, deep high-resolution ALMA map, we find that our sample has an average . and rest-frame FIR ., ., values of . kpc and 1.2 ± 0.2, respectively. Interestingly, we obtain the rest-frame optical . and . of . (.) and . kpc (> .), suggesting that the dusty disk-like structure is embedded in the larger stellar disk.
