Developing International Strategiesthrough this relatively gentle stage; it explodes in a shattering supernova. A star much less massive than the Sun simply fades out slowly, like an ember from a campfire. As you look out into the Milky Way, over half of the stars you see will pass through this planetary nebula phase as their final curtain call.

However, many objects in the sky are too large to fit into the field of view of a high-power eyepiece. These objects demand a wide field of view to appreciate their beauty and delicate form. (See .)

Why Should I Take Notes While Observing?,otes. My first observing notebook is filled with cryptic things like “Wow” or “Not much”. You can do better than that! If you take the time to find it, at least document it with some description of the object. Even if you don’t plan to ever look at this faint fuzzy again, give it a decent epitaph.

How Can I Find All These Deep-Sky Goodies when the Sky Is So Huge?, way around the dome of the sky can take the fun out of astronomy very quickly. Being able to point your telescope accurately at the target you are seeking will define your ability to have some joy in your observing: no find, no fun. Seems obvious.
