Multi-population Variants of Cultural Algorithms cases, the multiple groups of individuals searching different parts of the search space could increase the diversity and keep the algorithm away from the local optimums. In this chapter, the multi-population versions of CAs and their algorithmic frameworks will be discussed.

Application of Cultural Algorithms to Structural Optimisationerformances of different versions of CAs are investigated on two large-scale optimum structural design problems under static and dynamic constraints. The statistical results obtained from the design examples suggest that the types of influence functions can significantly affect the statistical behaviours of CAs.
