描述This book provides a comprehensive description of the volcanological, petrological and geochemical features of the Copahue volcano, located at the border between Argentina and Chile. Scientific studies are limited for this volcanic system, due to its remote location and difficult access in winter. However, Copahue is one of the most active volcanic systems in the southern Andes. Monitoring the volcano‘s activity is of utter importance, as it provides means of existence for the nearby village of the same name, hosting the world‘s highest-located hot-springs resort. .This book‘s aim is to present the current monitoring activities,  and to describe future research programs that are planned in order to mitigate volcanic hazards. Special attention is therefore devoted to the social and industrial activities close to the volcano, such as health therapies and geothermal energy exploitation. .In a special section, the Copahue volcano is presented as a terrestrial modern analog for early-Earth and Mars environments.

Prehistoric to Historic Volcanic Activity at Copahue Volcanoown. In this work, after a brief introduction on the geological and structural control on this volcanic complex, we have summarized the events that have led to the construction of the current volcanic edifice and its historical eruptive activity. Prehistoric events were divided into three main stage

Geochemistry of the Magmatic-Hydrothermal Fluid Reservoir of Copahue Volcano (Argentina): Insights fO) of gas discharges, collected during 6 campaings carried out from 1976 to 2012, located at the foot of Copahue volcano are presented and discussed. Gas composition is typical of hydrothermal fluids from volcanic areas, since it consists of dominant CO. and relatively high concentrations of H.S, H.

Ground Deformation Between 2002 and 2013 from InSAR Observations structure, plumbing system, and state of restless volcanoes. Copahue volcano is one of the most active eruptive centers in Argentina, and a major risk factor for the nearby towns of Caviahue and Copahue. Historic eruptive activity involved low intensity phreatic and phreatomagmatic events in 1992,

The Copahue Volcanic-Hydrothermal System and Applications for Volcanic Surveillance. Geochemical data of waters from Copahue springs, lakes and rivers provide new insights into the behavior of its volcano-hydrothermal system. Temporal variations in the chemical (major anions and cations) compositions, element fluxes, and isotopic fluctuations (δD and δ.O; stable Pb isotopes, .I/.I
