Grand challenge problems on cross cultural communication -Toward socially intelligent agents-,parties involved in the communication, needs to identify the difference in forms of social interactions. This paper raises six grand challenge problems on cross cultural communication that CIA community should jointly tackle in creating such socially intelligent agents.

Cooperative vs. Competitive multi-agent negotiations in retail electronic commerce,urthermore, we identify the importance of customer satisfaction and propose more cooperative multi- agent decision analysis tools (e.g., Multi-Attribute Utility Theory) and negotiation protocols (e.g., Distributed Constraint Satisfaction) as promising techniques to support it.

In this paper, we describe the different types and levels of adaptation in RETSINA, such as adaptation within an individual agent as well as inter-agent organization and coordination. We have used RETSINA to develop a variety of Internet-based applications.

It is argued that the resulting system incorporates the best aspects of existing Automated Collaborative Filtering (ACF) systems, whilst still retaining the benefits of the more traditional, feature based approach. In support of this claim and the general success of these systems, initial evaluation of the system is also reported.
