Estimation without Invariance and Hsu’s Theorem in Variance Component Modelstric functions of the σ.. exists. This question is investigated in the normal and non-normal case. The obtained conditions generalize Hsu’s theorem for the invariant case. Finally it is shown that the obtained conditions are met in balanced one-way and two-way classification models.
