GP Identities in Hospital,spitals. The tensions embedded in their daily work can be seen both to impact their learning about themselves and to manifest historical dynamics in a way which maintains conflict. Those who offered their experiences can be seen to engage in complex identity work within layers of social context and cultural ‘rules.’

Pedagogy, Policy and Practice,, casting GP training as a process of transformative learning which is deeply imbued with .. Translated into policy recommendations, a radical revision of training structures for GPs in the UK is suggested with a move away from the hegemonic assumptions of hospital-based training for community-based generalists.
