Each finger has two flexor tendons – the profundus or deep tendon inserts on the base of the proximal aspect of the distal phalanx, while the superficial flexor tendon inserts on the base of the middle phalanx. Figure 6.1 demonstrates how to check both the profundus and superficial tendons.
