Collective Trauma and Restorative Nostalgia: Royalist Remedies, true for individuals as well as collectives, and expressions of collective trauma thus represent a key area for the study of cultural memory. Nostalgia, or the yearning for an idealised past, frequently accompanied these expressions of trauma employed as a psychological remedy that would restore the nation’s health.
