Therefore, management of modern production forests needs special attention to conserve viable populations of endangered mammals. The effectiveness of reduced-impact logging in maintaining biodiversity was recognized in selected organisms (e.g., mammals; Mannan et al. 2008). However, this concept needs to be further substantiated in other taxa because benefits of reduced-impact logging can be specific to certain taxonomic groups only.
