描述.This book aims to structure, in a complete and sequential way, the mainstream technical knowledge which is related to eutrophication control. The book considers the development of innovative technologies for phosphate removal, while supporting the restoration of currently degraded lakes and reservoir systems. In addition, this book contains key-aspects of future benchmark interests being specially framed under the ongoing development of a circular economy. In particular, the book will contribute to a better understanding of the problem of internal P-loads and P-sources disposition towards a more effective control of nutrients’ enrichment in lakes. The chemical routes and environmental fate of such lake nutrients will be viewed in the light of innovative technologies (engineering dimensions) and circular economy perspectives (economics dimensions). The main theme extends to an economic appreciation of environmental polluted aquifers. The book will appeal to an interdisciplinary audience, covering a wide spectrum of scientific fields, such as environment, physical chemistry, surface chemistry, interfacial phenomena, coastal engineering, bio-engineering, environmental policy makers,

Eutrophication and Public Health, ing toxic algal blooms and red tides in eutrophic waters. Consequently, public health risk is associated with eutrophication through consumption of sea food contaminated with red tide toxins. Toxins contained in cyanophyte cells have also acute effects on vertebrates, from minor skin irritations, li

Management Strategies for Lake Restoration, ired for positive outcomes within reasonable time scales. In accelerating the recovery of lakes’ health through external nutrient reduction, the in-lake methods are commonly affected. Such methods include physical, chemical, and biological decrease in internal loading in many water bodies, which hav

Chemical Lake Restoration Methods: From Alum to Innovative Composite Materials,to guide remediation methods that control eutrophication. The usage of P- and joint P-/N-inactivation agents have been considered as feasible restoration tools through capacity and application methods in alignment with a wide spectrum of individually-examined nature-contexts, including that of water

Non-invasive Removal of Phosphorus from Lakes Using Processed Calcite-Based Materials,gy for non-invasive orthophosphate (OP) removal from eutrophic lakes. Planetary ball mill and 74 different grinding methods were applied differing in grinding time (0.5–24 h), grinding force (150–400 rpm) and mass of grinding balls (150–500 g). The obtained materials had  specific diameter . of 7.3–

A New Method for Lake Restoration, Impacting on Circular Economy (CE),s focused on the “teabag” process, under which P-inactivation agents were stored in water-permeable bags and submerged in the water column to trap P, which is one of the primary causes of eutrophication. In specific, composite lanthanum-modified bentonite (LMB) and Fe-modified bentonite (FMB) were i
