Mechanical Properties of SiO2 Coatings for Corrosion Protection of 304 Stainless Steelgs, tetraethilorthosilicate (TEOS) and 3-(Trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate are used as precursors for the SiO. layers formation. The mechanical properties of the SiO. coating were evaluated by tensile and Vickers microindentation hardness tests, while corrosion resistance is characterized by potentiodynamic measurements.
