Finally (and less obvious), changes in the system’s parameters which alter nonlinear behaviour should be readily and independently measurable (and, even more ideally, manipulable).

Modelling Time-Series Data,de complementary information. However, during the early stages of an investigation, before a limited set of competing hypotheses has been delineated, it may be premature to attempt to design critical experiments. Analysis of time-series data can then be very productive by suggesting possible mechanisms to model and to test with experiments.

The Hidden Risk of Value at Risk,icular dynamics from such relatively long-term field data from standard samples then perhaps the methods will prove of little practical significance to insect time-series obtained outside controlled laboratory conditions.
